It's actually a very intellectual question. So I ask you, what indeed is so funny about peace love and understanding?
I've found out through experience that so many people, no matter what, take their opinion as fact. I'll give my own personal family experience as an example.
I USE to have a problem with alcohol. I don't anymore. It is controlled and I only have a few drinks once a week or once every two weeks. That is not an alcoholic because I do not need alcohol. I drink socially, and at times when a get together is not possible I drink on my own for my own personal fun. So here is the kicker. Because of a mistake I made earlier in the year, I apparently can no longer have any alcohol. It is forbidden, exiled and ruled out. This is due to a biased, moral view point from my family. Alcoholics rage supreme in my entire family. But even though it's "in my blood" to be one, I have defeated it and learned to control it like any intelligent person could. Even though I spell it out very slowly and in great detail, the question still remains a question. What is so funny about peace love and understanding? By moral beliefs and over concerned people, I am in a way a prisoner of my own life. I'm 23, have a goal, working to get out on my own, piecing my life together, and yet I am still restricted. It's insane, I have no privacy at all and it's taken me to the breaking point. Yesterday I got so upset in an argument I punched a hole in the wall rather then breaking a face. I can't take stupid people, and I am talking about my mother. No matter how much factual evidence I have approached her with or obvious things, her moral beliefs and biased view points drive me literally insane.
That example is only a small peace that will support that question. The entire world is the rest of the evidence. Sadly because of religion, moral beliefs and biased views. That question goes unnoticed by most. Most religious fanatics have this view point, "believe what I believe or I'll hurt you". And again my question comes into place. EVEN OUR PRESIDENTS make decisions for the ENTIRE country based on their moral beliefs or religious views. We live in a free country? We don't. Our country may be more "free" then others, but it's not entirely free. And that term "A Free Country" is used to manipulate the biased and "politically correct" people.
If we lived in a free country, Homosexual people would have the right to marry and it actually be given the title of marriage. Our president would not be swayed by moral, religious or personal beliefs, he/she would be 50/50 and strongly consider every decision he/she made for the purpose of anyone that believes in religion or doesn't. The list of a completely free country goes on and on. But because of moral, religious and personal beliefs. The question of, "Whats so funny about peace love and understanding?" will always, and forever go unnoticed. And in reality and fact. This is due largely to stupidity. Why can't people just keep what they believe to themselves unless someone asks them personally? Why can't homosexuals marry? They are people right? Why do we have "Under God" in our pledge of allegiance if we are "FREE"? Not everyone believes in God. If we were totally free, that would not be in our pledge of allegiance.
Why do we stick our nose in other peoples business? Wars for example. I understand in the First and second World wars we had to get involved for the WORLDS sake. And we have allies we need to help (Korean War). Desert Storm was a result of an assassination attempt so I can understand the retaliation. But right now? The current war is a joke. The term "Freedom isn't free" strikes a very strong chord. Yeah, freedom is not free. But if we are paying the cost for it, why are we not completely free?
In everything that I have said, the question still comes into play. Based on Moral, Religious or Personal beliefs. We will never be completely free.
