this was no good. (spoilers as well)

i'm a fan of the show, and i hated it.
the plot is just stupid and conflicting, you try and guess when this takes place, but to no avail, the "spookiness" just isn't there, the romantic conflict is numb, this movie should have been just 2 plain episodes when the series was on.
especially bad?
the ending.
Scully is trying to save a kid for the whole movie, and the movie ends with the last surgery about to begin. does the kid make it? danged if you know, and those 2 hours you spent trying to care just run away with themselves. bleh. 5.6 on the smashing scale.

I wanted to go see it, but I have yet to do so.  I can say, however, that my sister gave me pretty much the same review when I talked to her about it yesterday.  My sister and I were pretty big into the show, so this was a bit disappointing for me.  I think I'll wait until dvd.

I only watched the X-files sporatically.  I think that's why I liked the beginning of the series where the shows weren't so tied together.  The individual 'wtf' shows were good.  Shame they couldn't bring that feeling into the movies more.  Based on the reviews and general opinion I probably won't see or even rent this one Sad

What's the point of wearing your favorite rocketship underpants if no one ever asks to see them?
