I will start off by saying this. The call of duty series in itself has yet to disappoint me on high levels. Of course I am going to be picky and there will always be something I will hate about a game but I will say that this game has only one flaw. Its length.

I got home from work today all excited to play the next installment in what has become one of the best war games ever created and indeed the most popular. CoD MW2 broke a record in sales on its release day. Breaking the record set by Grand Theft Auto 4 by about 20 million dollars in sales. I think it totaled somewhere along the lines of 360 million in sales. Now lets get on with the review.

Like the first one, Call of duty 4 modern warfare we saw a new type of battle system. A new type of respawn system that forces the player to keep pace and keep moving or face the consequence of digging back down and clearing that house or that area all over again. They seemed to have toned it down in this one though. I have painful memories from the first one of clearing out a house from long range only to have run up to it to progress to find the bad guys are all back! In some scenarios I would be running up to the door and now there is a guy on the roof again, me totally oblivious to it and I'm dead. I think they perfected it in MW2. It seems they respawn less and always seem to come from directions you can see them.

The story is absolutely amazing. It picks up from where the first one left off and puts you immediately into the action. If you've watched the trailer to the game you will see in one scene the white house is on fire...yes, in this game Russia attacks America and for the first time we find ourselves in a war on our very own soil. With all the action from the first I will tell you that they immerse you so well into this game that when I was running through the white house corridors shooting enemies...a small sense of Anger came over me...that these guys where HERE! ON OUR LAND! KILLING OUR GUYS! That's how much the story captures you and almost sheds a bit of light as to....wow...if there ever was war here...this is what it'd be like. This looks like what we see on TV...but...here....wow... They even have you going through some residential areas and business areas such as fast food restaurants ect... Truly amazing yet a bit disturbing at the same time. Another little trick they decided to pull was kill off a few of my favorite characters which really angered me but yet has such riveting key elements in the story I was awe inspired and astonished at their writers and the direction they were taking the story. How it ends, lets just say there will be a 3rd modern warfare.

Now my one complaint. It's length. The game has 4 difficulties. Something like recruit, regular, hardened and veteran. I play on hardened mostly because I am more about the story then I am about crazy skill and hardened is really hard enough. You get hit and you gotta find cover and let your health regenerate or your dead. I must of died about 58 times give or take a few playing it tonight. I beat the game in 7 hours....7 freaking hours. I mean c'mon! Seriously? We have the technology, we have 500 gig hard drives, we have DVD roms! Jesus christ break the game up into more disks! I want a god damn 20 hour game AT LEAST! 7 fucking hours? I just got it today! The length of games, like movies (9 lol) is diminishing and its actually starting to piss me off lol. Excellent game....just really needs to be longer.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 - 8.9 mongeese bites. I don't give it an even 9 out of spite of its length.

I'll stick with the FPSers where your health doesn't magically regenerate after you find a cozy corner to hide in.

You'll be missing out on a good game then =(

Try the first CoD: Modern Warfare - should be on the cheap side now. I think you would like the story and play style =)

I have the first Modern Warfare, it was fun to play, I just didn't get that survive-with-what-you-have feeling when I sat down and stood up at 100% health.

Play the second, the mission in south america where you are going through an inclosed villa...yeah...all you have is your wits...pretty much...survive by not getting hit once...ever cause the enemies come out of no where.

I picked it up for the 360 because my PC still sucks, and will probably continue to suck for a year or 2 more. Anyways i was always into the competitive FPS genre so CoD is really the only console alternative i have to fill that niche. The single player is just like a blockbuster movie, i dont really think it needs to be 20 hours in length. To make a game packed with so many intense moments is no easy feat and requires thousands of man hours to produce stuff done to that great of quality. Thunder i dont understand why you dont like the health system that most FPS games have moved to where you regenerate health. I mean no game is realistic when it comes to health regeneration. Whether it be through med packs or it automatically coming back.. if you think about it both are still pretty ridiculous when you think about it. Pick up a magic box and all of a sudden youre good to go? Meh to each their own i guess. The multiplayer is the part of the game that will give you the most replay value. Its challenging and there are tons of customization options. My only gripe with online is that the maps are made for campers, but i mean that will change the longer the game is out. Players figure out spots, certain strats dont work so well anymore. I highly recommend you pick up this game, its tits.

True, but when they add in those duo missions. (2 man team missions) That are pretty much the same from the first one, just different setting ect... as filler? I want my damned 20 hour game. They upped the price for this game to $60. And I beat it in 7 hours? Piss poor if you ask me. Although I am slightly biased because I hate CoD Multiplayer. I only got the game for its single player.

There was actually a red-carpet release party for this game, which offended me as a gamer...
