Who's going to pay the six-oh price premium to own this lil' time sink?

I still play the original star craft from time to time and still enjoy it so I will probably pick this up down the road at some point in time. They mentioned something about bringing the races out in expansions and such sooooo I am hoping they don't blizzard-ize it too much with extensive pricing to acquire aforementioned races in different installments.

I heard the same thing about multiple installments. I would have to look at system requirements before I even consider it, as my PC is going on 4 years old.

Barely ever played the original, not really excited about 2, but since I've been sent an invite to the beta I may grab it and go.

I think the separate installments idea is hearsay, I haven't seen anything concrete from Blizzard indicating this as a reality.

I could've sworn that I read an interview with some Blizzard guy that stated that they'd be releasing each race's campaign separately each for something like full price.  Maybe my faulty memory is reading too much into whatever I read...

No, that's correct.  The first game is the human campaign, first expansion is the zerg, second expansion the protoss.  The first will have the full multiplayer including of course all three races.  This has been in all of their recent press releases/news items. http://us.starcraft2.com/faq.xml#trilogy

The length of each race's campaign is supposedly similar to the total length of all three race's original campaigns combined.  They haven't said anything about pricing for the second and third installments though.

Kub.deathjesters is my b.net name, if anyone has the beta and wants to see how terrible I am.  I've played 3-4 times only.

Thanks for the correction, as long as I can play all 3 in online mode that's good enough for me.
