Robin Hood

This movie was ok, I can't say it was particularly pleasing. It left me with that "eh?" feeling, like there could have been so much more. An hour into the flick I was wondering when things were going to happen - quite disappointing with the Gladiator director and main actor on the bill.
I'll call this the Feel Nothing Movie of the Year.

What's the point of wearing your favorite rocketship underpants if no one ever asks to see them?

Robin Hood. you can't really call it that as there's only 1 robbing, and 1 use of the hood.
you see, this isn't Robin Hood. this is a film about children's suffrage, women's suffrage, farmers suffrage; you get the idea.
it even goes a step further with the whole "Englishman vs Frenchies" idea.
if that was the point then why not make it an epic war movie?
you're the people who made Gladiator, did you forget all of that?
why not make it about the one man against the King, and rally around that?
why try to mix and match the both of them into a glob of finger paint?
this film goes off the rails a bunch of times, like a conductor waving off a bee attack at the opera.
first Robin Hood finds out that his father was taken from him.
so of course he has to follow in dear old dad's footsteps, even though he can barely remember him.
then he has to see horrible acts of war, and yet remain the only honest man in the army.
the film trips over itself trying to prove that Robin is good, and that every baddie is too horrible to live.
if my review of this film seems all over the place, it's because the film was too.
in the end - this movie is only worth knowing for Trivial Pursuit questions so - 6.76 smashies.
