Predators Review (with SPOILERS!)

[Afterthought]

this is the sequel you waited 23 years for. forget that AVP stuff, this is the buffet line.
and by buffet, I mean we have 8 people who have places to go, and get killed by aliens along the way.
we start out with our 8 people being parachuted onto a strange planet, inside some kind of gaming preserve.
after the Predator dog attack (yes you read that right and yes it's pretty dang awesome) they come to the realization that they're being hunted.
but by what??  hmm, I wonder....

it turns out this collection of people are not very nice. with them being military or crime affiliated, they were predators in their own rights on Earth, but not anymore.
the main actor Adrien Brody got bulked up for this movie and I mean big time if you've seen him before.
he's the guy who keeps them all together, and decides he's Captain Kick-Ass.
there are 2 characters you love to hate almost immediately and 2 you learn to love cause they're the leader, and the other is from the freaking Yakuza and he takes out a Super-Predator with a F'N SAMURAI SWORD in a scene that makes you want to jump out of your seat and cheer.

this planet is for both human prey and Predator feud wars. remember the Super-Predator I mentioned?
these 3 larger Predators are picking on the typical Predator guy, which would seem unfair what with the dogs and METALLIC FALCONER MANEUVER (awesome!) but that's how it is.
so after a quick Laurence Fishburne cameo, our guys have found a possible way back home.
but not everybody makes it to the finale. ohhhh so sad.
not really, they all get gruesome ways out. especially the SUB-ZERO SPINAL GRAB!!!

getting to the finale has many good moments, only some of which I've put in this review.
trust me, there are many more.
such as the homages to the original (shooting down a forest, seeing something that isn't there, the music, NO Arnold cameo don't worry) and new twists what with the Super-Predators and all.
sadly the film ends a bit messy as they have to set up a sequel, and it makes your head scratch, but it's not that bitter a pill to swallow if we can get more of this.
therefore - 8.859 smashies.
