doh - i thought we were doing pvp servers!

My wife wanted to start on pve.  She's onboard for a pvp server for the Imperial characters.

Kinda what i thought.  Don't matter with me though.  There is still pvp with these servers but you have to join instances to do it

Hey guys!  AirmaN and I **may** be joining KillerDark on USWest PVP Server - Warriors of the Shadow (Republic).  Just wanted to throw that out there to maybe get some LSers to join a guild. Smiley

I'm not a fan of any of the crafting or resource gathering.   I'm having fun playing a mixture of characters.  I probably should just focus on one at a time but I do like the diversity and story.  The smuggler's is lots of fun.

Kitt is level 50 so he should have a good understanding of the game.  I can't yet decide on a main so I have several alts around level 15-20.

I have a lvl 40ish smuggler/gunslinger.  The story for the smuggler at least has been really engaging and really brought out the feel of the original star wars for me, which is saying something since I really got turned off of the franchise over the last few years and was expecting to not like this game either.  Graphics and environments are pretty awesome, voice acting is above average though it eventually gets repetitive (I space bar skip through almost everything now except the main class quest-line).  I also really like the companions that join you along the way, they're pretty much necessary for soloing and they're also well voice acted with decent scripts.

I think the game is worth it as a single player game alone, but I'm debating whether to shell out for more than the first included month of game time.  I think they have a lot of work to do on the multi-player side.  As things stand at the moment, it's a complete pain to find a group for anything.  Everything is instanced so I usually never see more than a couple people while leveling on any given planet, which is great for soloing but is a pain for killing local heroic missions quickly.  My guild has started raiding (I think it's an 8 man raid?) and have been pretty "meh" about it, but I haven't got that far myself yet.

It's a really good game but at its core it's still a MMO.  In a lot of ways it is an updated reskinned WoW with some fun new features and more engaging (IMO) story.  The interface is functionally identical to the wow interface, but it's almost completely non-customizable at the moment (something I hope they change soon).  Quests work pretty much the same way, there are instances (called flashpoints), tradeskills, etc.  If that's what you're looking for I would go for it.

It's too bad we couldn't all get on the same server, but my guild pre-formed and we got randomly assigned to a server on launch.  I'm on the Krayt Dragon server republic side, smuggler's name is Kub.

Just thought I'd update.

I've decided not to subscribe after the first month.  After I got to max level and finished the main class quest, I just wasn't motivated to do anything else.  I did the Eternity Vault raid a couple times, and although entertaining, it was a buggy mess.  Other people I play with logging in less and less or already quitting has not helped either.

The nail in the coffin (at least for now) was Bioware's decision to release a content patch less than 2 months after release, while barely managing to fix any of the obvious and annoying (sometimes game breaking without GM intervention) bugs still present in the game.

I might come back to it in a few months and see how things stand then.
