About a month ago I was on MSNBC.com when my computer went psycho and now when I run a program I get a Windows error that says it can't find the .exe file and that I need to specify which exe file to open the exe file.  Does anyone know how to get around this or if this is a virus of some sort?

Your PC needs more exe files.  rolleyes

That doesn't sound normal... If your antivirus doesn't spot it, I would probably research the symptoms and see if good ol' Google knows what's ailing you... Assuming you haven't tried that already. If you have, then I'm out of ideas for now.

If it's a virus most of the newer ones now mimic programs that try and get your credit card information and eventually shut you out of opening any programs that is not the mimic program.

I would run a spy ware program and mal-ware program along with your anti-virus. There are some virus out there your anti-virus or spy ware detector won't pick up. I had an issue with a virus that tried to mimic windows security saying I had just about every virus on my PC that I could have and I needed to purchase this program with a credit card to get rid of them. Ad-Aware or AVAST couldn't detect it even in Safe Mode. It was a Mal-Ware program (I forgot which one) that detected it and finally rid me of that horrible virus. The virus shut me out of opening any program including Ad-Aware and my anti-virus but it didn't say it couldn't find the .exe it would just try to open then close. The only solution was to go into safe mode, download the mal-ware program and run it.

Does it say what EXE file it is talking about? What program do you run when it has the error?
Besides the error, is there any program or anything that does not work on your PC that you use?

It was whenever I tried to run any program, ever.   I tried the Malware idea but it wouldn't even let me run that so I reloaded Windows and everything is fine again, thanks for the ideas.
