Since my computer is starting to show its age, (bought all parts in Nov 08) I finally bit the bullet and ordered a few parts.

Motherboard: MSI P67A-GD55 (B3) ATX Intel Motherboard
CPU: Intel Core i5-2500K 3.3GHz LGA 1155 95W Quad-Core Desktop Processor
CPU Fan: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus
Memory: G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600

I'm excited to have a competent machine, at least for a while. Cheesy

Nice!  That is pretty much the same build I just did a few months ago.  Though I got a zalman cooling the processor.  I haven't felt the need to overclock the i5 but that definitely will be a nice option in a few years.

What's the point of wearing your favorite rocketship underpants if no one ever asks to see them?

I just got the parts all replaced and decided to load up Borderlands to see how it was with the new hardware. The difference was insane!!! With my E8600 and 8GB DDR2 1066mhz RAM in, I was getting maybe 20-30 FPS on 1680x1050 with 16xAA. With these new parts, I'm getting high 50s-60 FPS. I had NO CLUE my old CPU was limiting my GPU so damn much. This is incredible! I am still using my 4870x2 that I have had since 2008 and wow... maybe I don't need to throw out $400+ for a 580 just yet.

Just for a point of reference, I just bought a 570 GTX for $250 and I'm running Deus Ex:HR with everything maxed at 120 fps in 3D Smiley  I think a 580 is overkill.
