http://www.gametrailers.com/video/e3-09-metroid-other/50237

K I saw this in December and it caused me to black out for the entire new year. As you all know I am a huge Metroid fan and this one just looks like how the Prime Series should of been.

Team Ninja is teaming, heh, up with Nintendo to make what looks like this masterpiece of 2d/3d platforming cinematic play style gold. The Story takes place Between "Super Metroid" SNES, and "Metroid Fusion", Game Boy Advanced.

You will see in the trailer a gentleman that looks like a General. This is confirmed to be Captain Malckovhich (forgive the spelling). His signiture line was always "Any objections, Lady?" Heard in the trailer. Samus was always under the order of the federation as a bounty hunter but in the GBA game Fusion she mentions that one time before she was assigned a commanding officer, Captain Malckovhich. But he was killed. Later to find out in the end of Fusion that the Computer controlled CO she was to serve under, under the conditions of her taking her new ship because hers was destroyed was to follow the orders of this Computer AI CO which happens to be Captain Malckochich's mind, salvaged when he died. Scientists managed to upload his memories in time. So this game will be rich in story.

You will also see in the trailer a SNES version of Mother Brain and the Giant metroid that saved your life in the end....this is interesting. I wonder if they are having you play from the end of the SNES game and into this one....very interesting. If you pause the trailer at 1:29 you will see this very clearly.

The gameplay looks like its going to have a lot of "cinematic" moves/attacks. My assumption is similar to a God Of War style. Like having to hit certain combination of buttons to finish monsters off. It also looks like it jumps from First person perspective and 3rd person perspectives which just makes my mouth run dry because I drooled a pool of saliva on the ground. I'll be keeping a very close eye on this game and look forward to hearing more about its game play and its story.

Looks interesting, I never did beat the Wii Metroid, doh.   It looks like some of the moves are similar to God of War type stuff where you latch onto a huge monster and blast away.

For those of you that might be interested in this game and have a Wii. I recommend downloading Super Metroid off nintendos shopping channel and giving it a play. You will need the Controller for it though. The wii mote will not work, not enough buttons. Super Metroid was an awesome game and had some great story involved in it. It was the 3rd metroid game following the Game Boy version Metroid 2 where Samus went to the metroids home planet and hunted them down to extinction. It will get you ready for this one and is just a heck of a lot of fun to play.

Some more information from the trailer. In the very beginning when you are in space flowing through what looks like some wreckage and an asteroid field. This very well looks like the destroyed space station from the very beginning of Super Metroid. This is when Samus received a distress signal from the station where she dropped off the very last metroid in exsistence for research. Also the Metroid that saves your life at the end of the game and also in Fusion as well. Samus was injected with a serum from the baby metroid because her body was infested with a parasite known as X. Which also brings in another mystery from the trailer. It looks like there are two Samus Arans in the trailer. Could this be Samus X?

The X parasite in Fusion had the ability to mimic its prey or host body, Samus happened to be a host. This is why her ship was destroyed. Upon leaving the Metroid home world (after they were extinct) They were attacked by this unknown enemy. She lost consciousness when they left and the X took over her body. The Serum from the last metroid was what saved her life. Turns out the Metroids were the natural preditor of the X parasite. She had drifted into an asteroid field and her automatic escape features of her ship is what saved her there and the team of scientists she was escorting picked her up in their ship. Samus X was a nasty nemesis.....it had all of your abilities when you were at your weakest. In the game if you ran across her you had to run and they made it difficult but doable. So I am wondering if this game is playing into fusion from the SNES games story...this is very interesting. Because the first scene where you see Samus in third person flipping through a bunch of those green/purple flying things and shooting them....those are some of the original monsters you encountered in the first Metroid and in the Third (Super Metroid) As well as some of the Prime Series from Game Cube into the Wii. Nintendo seems to really be diving into the story of one of their most beloved heroines. This game I can already tell will be worth it.

sounds like it can be pretty good as usual, but as most games recently, let's try not to overhype

Not trying to over hype. Its just with Nintendo and Metroids track record, the new features being displayed with this trailer...one can only think good things about this game. A Metroid fan from the first game and all the way up until now. Yes I have played Metroid 2 on the original gameboy when I was like 8ish and beat it. I see God of war style gameplay with a mission based system. In this version captain malck. is alive. I forsee it now being a exploration game but more of a mission based game style. This is new for Metroid but offers something so unique with this 2d/3d game play which is how it was supposed to be when Retro did the prime series. Not dissing retro and their FPS style Metroid but the game was always ment to be a platformer.
